About The Workforce Current
The Workforce Current is a weekly executive journal exploring labor relations, workforce strategy, leadership, and America’s skilled trades. Each issue is designed to help business leaders, labor professionals, policymakers, and workforce stakeholders better understand the forces shaping the future of work.
Our Premise
Workforce strategy is business strategy. An organization’s ability to execute depends on whether it has the people, skills, leadership, labor relationships, and institutional capability required to turn strategy into results.
The Workforce Current examines those dependencies—connecting labor relations and workforce decisions to the operational, economic, and strategic challenges facing organizations.

About the Founder
Michael Shue is a labor-relations and workforce-strategy leader whose perspective was built across the workforce system-not from a single side of it.
His career has spanned the skilled trades, organized labor, workforce development, and senior corporate labor relations. He has worked from the field and union leadership to the enterprise level, giving him firsthand experience with how workforce decisions look from different sides of the labor-management relationship.
He founded The Workforce Current to connect those perspectives-to examine how decisions about labor, leadership, skills, and workforce capability ultimately affect an organization’s ability to execute.
The Workforce Current is an independent publication. Views expressed are those of the author and do not represent any employer or organization.
